I truly believe Bob and I just came back from the best vacation of our lives.
We had decided in 2006 when we first went to Sandals Negril, we would come back for our 25th Anniversary. Little did we know an opportunity would arise to renew our vows and “Re-Tie The Knot” in a ceremony. All of a sudden, when we added this to our already amazing vacation package at Sandals I became like a new bride with the hormones of Oxytocin flying through me to keep me on a high of happiness.
The day arrived, October 19, 2013 for us to leave our homestead and head out to The Sheraton Hotel by Toronto Airport to stay the night before leaving at 10:15 in the morning for Negril. We arrived and went out for a bite to eat after hitting the Club Floor for some appetizers. When we got back to the room, my youngest Son, Phil called me and asked me what room we were in because he was having a package delivered to us. I told him, he turned around to talk to someone and came back to tell me the delivery guy would be there in about 5 minutes.
By this time, I told Bob to put his pants back on because we had a delivery coming. It seems I should have done the same thing because the package that arrived was Phil and his girlfriend Wendy with a bottle of champagne and a tray of hors’ doeuvres that were wrapped with a file on top with plastic wrap. I was instructed to open the file, only to be caught on video in a state of shock as I looked inside to see their hotel reservations and their plane ticket boarding passes. They were coming with us to see us get remarried. We weren’t going to be alone as we thought we were.
Bob and I were so happy they were coming and would witness us being married.
It didn’t stop there. We were sitting on the plane and Wendy had already had us bumped up to West Jet Plus, meaning the drinks and food were paid for and we were sitting 3 rows head of where we were originally booked. I was putting my purse under the seat when I sat up I looked at the people boarding the plane and on walked my Sister Marie and her husband Rick. OMG, OMG, OMG. The tears fly out uncontrollably again. Family was coming to share and support our love.
It seems everyone knew about this except Bob and I. To say we were in a state of shock is an understatement.
Two days later we were remarried in such an emotional ceremony between Bob and I pledging, one more time, after 25 years of marriage to the date, our undying love and promise to love and care for each other. To have family share with us, this very special occasion was even more of a dream come true.
Two more days later and the time came for all of them to leave. It was bittersweet, but we still had 6 days left for our second honeymoon and well, the party must go on.
Two more days later and our Concierge let us know that the upgrade we had requested was available and she would take us to see the room. OMG again. It was the most expensive suite on the Resort Property with a swim-up pool, lounge chairs in the water, a livingroom, a marble bathroom complete with Whirlpool tub, double sinks, a shower for two and just an amazing room. We spent our last four days living the life of the rich and famous and feeling totally blessed.
Now we are back home and life is back to the reality it was, but I have over 400 pictures to remind me of what a special Anniversary/holiday this ended up being. I DO, I DO, I DO BELIEVE IN MIRACLES.
